When It Comes to the Bend, You Know on Whom to Depend!
Yes, folks you guessed it: Bud's Machine Tools. We've got benders, too, just like you knew we would. Of course, bending machines can come in many forms, right? When it comes to bending machines, you know you can always count on one thing — there’s going to be a lot of them, and not one will be the same as another. Just in tube and pipe bending you have, let’s see, just a quick few off the top of our head: conduit benders, exhaust benders, mandrel benders, rotary draw benders, mandrel rotary draw benders — well you probably get the idea. And that’s only in tube and pipe benders. In flat benders, you could start with the smallest version of a hand bender that might be only be 36 inches in length and be mounted to a bench. At the other end of the spectrum you have machines sometimes as long as 20 feet conventionally, and machines with even longer bending lengths, made special-order per customer requirements.
In the Fabrication Industry, Isn’t Everything a Bending Machine?
Well, in the strictest sense of the word that’s mostly correct. Just about everything in the house bends metal in one shape or form. You could be talking a press brake — it bends metal along a straight line to complete its task. You certainly could be talking a plate roll, because that machine just flat out rolls up some steel, bending it in its own way. We could continue to go on down the list to more machines that are common to the fabrication industry, but we think you get the idea. In the interest of clarification of this subcategory of machines at Bud's Machine Tools, we are talking dedicated “bending machines.” (Whew, glad we got that all cleared up! Now, back to the machines.) At Bud's Machine Tools, we sell a lot of new and used fabrication equipment. Because of that we are always considering trade-ins as well as purchasing good looking used machine tools on the open market when the opportunity presents itself. Frequently that would include good used bending machines. One of the nicer aspects of a bending machine is its lack of complexity. Because of this, benders are easy to rebuild and keep up. With a relatively simple hydraulic system, there isn’t much to go wrong (and even less with a hand-powered bender). Besides that, benders are what we call “soft operating” machines, in that there is no impact in any of a bender's range of operation. Additionally, there is not a requirement, typically, to reset the job continually, like you would with, say, a press brake. You set up the bender one time, bend all day long. Another thing that helps the longevity of the typical bending machine is the type of material that usually gets bent on that bending machine. Typical materials bent on your run-of-the-mill bender are: low to medium carbon steels, usually up to A.I.S.I. 1045, although it is not uncommon to see a sheet of non-ferrous metal like copper, aluminum, or even brass being bent on a bending machine.
So, It’s Decided, You Need a Used Bending Machine — Where Do You Go Now?
If your company happens to reside in the Intermountain West region we are practically neighbors (though we sell used equipment across the USA). Bryan "Bud" Jorgenson's family has been conducting business out of Utah's Salt Lake Valley for several decades. Bryan's father, Roger Jorgenson, made a name for himself in the local area in selling high quality new and used chip-making and metal fabrication machines, all the while taking excellent care of his customers. As the next generation follows in Roger's footsteps, we at Bud's Machine Tools strive to put the customer first and foremost, while providing the very best in all things metalworking. Along with selling the equipment, we also install and train on both new and used machines. As your machine tool begins to mature during its natural operating functions, Bud's is there to service your machine and insure your continued satisfaction. Our parts and tooling staff is always standing by to providing the correct tool or exact part you need, when you need them. Always choose Bud's Machine Tools, for the right machine at the right price, and service that will make you smile.
