Why the Heck Should I Buy an H-Frame Press?
The most basic type of press in the market today is the H-frame press. These presses are so named due to the shape of their frames, which usually consist of two tall side supports and a work table that is often raised off the ground (which together essentially make the shape of a capital letter “H”), along with a top beam housing the pressing mechanism and a bottom support beam.
The design of H-frame presses is ideal for applying considerable pressure with relatively little effort, whether done manually, by motor or by hydraulic power. Ideal for making parts with deep draws, H-frames are also available in double-action configurations that allows the ram to not only press but also to pull.
H-frame presses are open on both sides, allowing the operator to load from either side of the machine. Their sturdy frame design ensures that the plate and bed are in parallel, press after press. Available in a variety of sizes, H-frame style presses are also compact, taking up minimal floor space compared to other presses of their same tonnage.
Standard features found on many H-frame press models include dual electric/hydraulic operation for smoother and more consistent pressing action; conveniently changeable flat ram noses that allow the user to adapt the presses for specific jobs; and a self-locking table design prevents lateral movement. Many models feature a hydraulic power lift for vertical table adjustment. Some models include as standard equipment or an option a pressure regulator to limit the ram pressure.
